Minister President appoints TUM economist to new advisory committee

Prof. Ann-Kristin Achleitner named to Economic Advisory Council on the coronavirus crisis

A new Economic Council by Bavarian Minister President Dr. Markus Söder will include Ann-Kristin Achleitner, Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance at TUM, among its members. It is tasked with analyzing the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the Bavarian economy and preparing recommendations for the state government.

Alongside Ann-Kristin Achleitner, the five-member committee will include Prof. Clemens Fuest, the president of the Ifo Institute, and Oliver Bäte, Oliver Zipse and Joe Kaeser, the CEOs of Allianz, BMW and Siemens, respectively.

Prof. Achleitner's research focuses on the financing of innovations, venture capital, private equity, family businesses and social entrepreneurship. She has extensive experience as a political advisor and is a member of the Executive Committee of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech).

The economist is the second TUM professor to be appointed to the state government's advisory team on the coronavirus pandemic: Prof. Ulrike Protzer, the director of the Institute for Virology, is a member of the committee addressing medical issues.
