First TUM Sustainability Day on October 27, 2022

Straubing student is EU Youth Ambassador for Bioeconomy 


Olivia Mrozinski is studying towards a Bachelor's in Technology of Biogenic Resources at the TUM Straubing campus. She and two classmates recently became three of 15 EU Youth Ambassadors for Bioeconomy. Their objective is among other things to sensitize the European Commission for sustainable transformation in society and the economy.

Thousands of first semester students attend welcoming event

Welcome to TUM!

TUM welcomed its new students with a large outdoor party. TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann, the vice presidents and deans greeted the first semester students to TUM at the Garching campus. Well over 6,000 new students attended the "Welcome@TUM" celebration, which also featured live music and free beer.

12,100 students starting bachelor’s and master’s degrees

Around 50,000 students at TUM for the first time

The new academic year at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is getting underway with thousands of talented people from all over the world. As in the previous winter semester, around 14,000 new students have enrolled in the approximately 180 degree programs offered in Munich, Garching, Freising, Straubing and Heilbronn. Total enrollment at TUM is now at a new all-time high of around 50,000 students, including 41% from abroad.

Dieter Schwarz Foundation finances 10 additional professorships

TUM Campus Heilbronn expands: "For the Digital Age"

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) Heilbronn campus, founded in 2018, is developing into a powerhouse in the shaping of the Digital Transformation: The Dieter Schwarz Foundation (DSS) has increased its long-term commitment by including another ten professorships at the TUM School of Management and TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology. This brings the total number of professorships sponsored by the DSS at the two schools to 41.

Svenja Zösmair is a doctoral candidate at the new TUM Professorship for Family Business Culture and Ownership. Her concerns about sustainability have not only led her to completely change her diet, but also to do volunteer work on behalf of the "TU eMpower Africa" organization. Top positions in the THE university ranking

TUM is the best university in Germany and the European Union

For the first time ever, the three most important rankings in the academic world all simultaneously rate the Technical University of Munich (TUM) as Germany's best university. TUM overtook last year's winner, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU), according to a report published Wednesday by the renowned British magazine "Times Higher Education" (THE). The QS World University Ranking and the Shanghai Ranking had already rated TUM first in Germany.

TUM Entrepreneurial Masterclass supports students

The Master's thesis as basis for founding a start-up

In the TUM Entrepreneurial Masterclass students turn their degree theses into product ideas or even their own start-ups. Today, two years after the Masterclass was launched, 56 of the almost 150 Masterclass Fellows and Alumni already work at companies they founded themselves. The current application period for the free supplementary course at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) expires on November 1, 2022.

GMDS Young Scientist Award and invitation to Oxford for student Friederike Suhr

Excellent bachelor thesis on global health

What is the impact of flood exposure on population health in Sub-Saharan Africa? Friederike Suhr investigated the current state of evidence in her bachelor thesis and won the 2022 Young Scientist Award for Epidemiology from the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS). Now she is going to Oxford as a Junior Visiting Scholar.
