#virtualTUMrun for the entire TUM community

Join the run! The virtual TUMrun will take place on November 13 and 14, 2020. Especially for the first-year students, this is a good opportunity to actively participate in the network of their study program, their faculty, and all of TUM. All students, staff (administration and research), and even our more than 70,000 alumni worldwide can participate – as individual runners or in a team, over the 5.5 km or 11 km distance. Hackathon Climate Protection

We are looking for coders, hackers, biologists, economists, climate activists, designers, pupils, students, or simply interested people who want to develop innovative and creative ideas with other committed people – focusing on digital solutions for climate protection. The first online hackathon of the Bavarian Ministry of Digital Affairs will take place From November 13 to 15, 2020: the INNOVATION CHALLENGE - #FutureTech4Climate. EIT Urban Mobility Accelerator

Lower emissions, less congested city centers, more efficient commuting – all ideas that could improve the people's quality of life and reduce greenhouse gas emissions are welcome. The EIT Urban Mobility Accelerator is looking for innovative startups with groundbreaking ideas in the mobility sector. The registration phase has begun. Selected start-ups will receive 15,000 EUR financing (equity free), a 6 months acceleration program with mentoring, coaching, and contact to customers and investors, 6 months office space / co-working space, and direct access to "living labs" and cities – allowing them to focus on developing new products and services. Online seminars and help from the nursing guides

Anyone who suddenly has to cope with caring for a relative alongside a course of studies will have many questions. At TUM, there are now specially trained "Pflegelots*innen" (nursing guides), who serve as contact persons for all TUM members and can give an initial overview of internal offers and legal provisions, external contact points, and cooperations. The offer is open to all employees and students at TUM. There will also be online information events in the winter semester 2020/2021, starting with "Häusliche Pflege – So geht’s: Finanzierung und Leistungsansprüche" (an online course on home care, financing, and benefit entitlement) on November 17, 2020 (from 1 pm to 3 pm). Erasmus despite Corona – but how?

From December 1, 2020, to January 14, 2021, TUM students can apply for an Erasmus+ exchange place in the academic year 2021/22 (winter semester 2021/22 and summer semester 2022). An orientation event will take place on November 18, 2020 (starting at 6 pm) including Q&As, food for thought, and personal experience reports from students who have already completed an Erasmus stay during the Corona pandemic or who are currently abroad. TUM IdeAward 2020

Celebrate the first virtual TUM IdeAward 2020 with us! On November 26, 2020 we will stream the annual ideas competition live to your home, starting at 5 pm. The award – initiated by TUM, UnternehmerTUM, and the Zeidler Research Foundation – takes place annually since 2012. The aim is to award the most promising start-up ideas from the world of science, which are expected to have great market potential. The total prize money is 37,500 EUR. In addition to exciting pitches, you can look forward to a stage program with a keynote speaker, a start-up Q&A, and the award ceremony. The event will be held in English. For young parents: the virtual family café

The family café for the Munich area will take place online for the first time – as a virtual forum to exchange ideas and get to know other students with children. The event offers the possibility to discuss topics such as reconciling a course of studies with taking care of child, university life in times of Corona, lack of childcare offers, financing of a course of studies, or course planning – within the group or with experts from the different universities. TUM Online Career Day

The TUM Career Day will take place online for the first time as well. Date: December 8, 2020. Take advantage of the wide range of offers in the scope of this information and networking day! In a Career Lounge, TUM alumni will report on the field of patents and possible career paths, various webinars offer information about the topics of applications and career entry, and you can get in contact with the speakers. The Career Day is rounded off by a "Speed Dating" event – a possibility to get to know innovative companies and industries. More information: TUM Online Career Day

Lunch with the President

The Presidential Student Lunch at TUM offers the rare opportunity of a face-to-face meeting with the President of your university – to exchange opinions and ideas and to ask questions. Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann will meet up for personal exchange with students from different faculties. A short application is required in advance. The next lunch with interested students (from the faculties of MA, PH, CH, IN, and MW) will take place on December 16, 2020. Interested in a study stay outside of Europe? The TUMexchange program offers you the opportunity to visit a university of your choice outside Europe for one or two semesters. The application round for stays abroad in the winter semester 2021/22 and the summer semester 2022 has begun. TUMi: Hybrid in the winter semester

At TUMi, the orientation and support program for international students at TUM, the winter semester 2020/21 will also take place in a hybrid manner. There will be face-to-face events such as hikes or visits to museums – in small groups and with a hygiene concept – but also innovative online events. As always at TUMi, all events are open to all TUM students, not just international students. An overview of all events is available in the TUMi app.

TUM Global Dialogue Series

As of fall 2020, the so-called Liaison Officers of TUM International and the team of TUM Asia will organize new virtual events, with a focus on the dialogue between researchers and their partners as well as social actors in the respective regions. Munich-based founders watch out: EXIST Potentials

Together with UnternehmerTUM, the center for innovation and start-ups in Garching, TUM will help start-up teams from other countries to establish successful deep-tech start-ups in the Munich region. The goal is to create Europe's best environment for deep-tech areas such as artificial intelligence and robotics – in cooperation with the Munich University of Applied Sciences and the LMU Munich. Virtual networking in the chat channel "#chancengleichheit

The TUM Rocket Chat channel "#chancengleichheit" offers a possibility to stay in touch with others even in times of "social distancing". It offers useful information and tips for (student) parents as well as valuable exchange of experiences, and it is free of charge and freely accessible. Simply go to https://chat.tum.de and log on with your TUM ID (e.g. "ab12cde"). Further registration is not necessary, as the group is an open channel. Goal: Working as a physicist in the clinic

Pascal Wodtke completed a Bachelor's course in Physics, with a focus on biophysics, at TUM and is now studying in the new Master's program Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics.
