Contemporary democracies are characterized by diverse forms of inequality and power asymmetries. As many of these are linked to increasingly concentrated wealth, scholars speak of oligarchic tendencies in democratic societies. To counteract such tendencies, democracies need new structures in the economic and political sphere.
Political theorist Vincent Harting from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) will present new approaches to the various forms that anti-oligarchic institutions could take.
The event consists of two parts, a workshop and a lecture - you are welcome to participate in one or both parts.
