Semester fees payment for the new semester at Campus Heilbronn

Whether you are commencing or continuing your studies at the TUM Campus Heilbronn, you must pay your semester fees within the designated period before the start of each semester. The semester fees is divided into the Basic Student Union Fee for the Student Union Munich and the Basic Semester Ticket for Heilbronn.


Basic Student Union Fee

The basic fees must be paid every semester before students are permitted to enroll or re-enroll. Fees are also due for students taking leaves-of-absence from their studies. An exemption from these fees is not possible. 

The basic student union fees amoun to 75 euros per semester.

Basic Semester Ticket

The fees for the basic semester ticket must be paid every semester before students are permitted to enroll or re-enroll. Fees are also due for students taking leaves-of-absence from their studies.

Basic semester ticket fees amount to 17 euros per semester.

Important notice concerning Student Cards

Please note: The special arrangement for the MVV use of student cards with a validation from the previous semester expired in the winter semester 2021/22. It is mandatory to carry a student card with the validation of the current semester on MVV transportation.

Please validate your Student Card at our validation machines.

The following regulations apply to the use of MVV transportation in Munich in winter semester 2021/22

  • Student Cards with validation/validity for the winter semester 2021/22 can be used as MVV travel authorization in the off-peak hours (Mon – Fri 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. and all day on weekends).
  • If you wish to purchase the IsarCard Semester, your Student Card must be validated/valid for winter semester 2021/22.
  • As before, an official photo ID (e.g. ID card) must be carried in addition to the Student Card. 
  • As before, the certificate of enrollment will not be recognized as a right to travel by MVV.

Important information

  • Please note that the date of the receipt of payment is decisive for the deadline of the first-time and continued enrollment. So please allow for sufficient processing time at the bank (3–5 working days). 

  • Your transfer will appear in the TUMonline account within approx. 5 working days. Please do not contact us before the payment has not been registered for at least one week.

  • Your enrollment will not take place until payment has been received. If you have missed the payment deadline, please pay the fee without further delay.

  • For payments from outside the SEPA area, please check with your bank if bank charges apply. Please indicate that all bank charges are to be paid by the remitter, including charges from intermediary institutions.  To do this, please inform your bank to select 'OUR' for the details of charges.

  • Extra fees are charged for some continuing education programs. For more information please visit the pages of the respective department or school.

  • For degree programs with restricted admission (NC) other deadlines apply. Here, the semester fee has to be received by TUM within 14 days after you receive the admission letter.
    Please note that the date of the receipt of payment is decisive, and not the date of transfer. So please allow for sufficient processing time at the bank (3-5 working days).

  • For the summer semester: Not later than Mar. 15
  • For the winter semester 2020/21: Not later than Sept. 15

Please pay your semester fees in full as soon as possible after notification of admission. Only after your student fees have been paid in full are you officially enrolled as a regular student at TUM. Once you are officially enrolled, you will be able to print your student documents (enrollment verification and enrollment record) or register for courses and exams.

Please be aware of the different deadlines for programs with restricted admission (NC).

  • For the summer semester: Not later than Feb. 15
  • For the winter semester: No later than Aug. 15

If you have not paid your semester fees within the time frame stipulated in §10 of theEnrollment, Student Fee Payment, Leaves of Absence and Withdrawal statutes(Immatrikulations-, Rückmelde-, Beurlaubungs- und Exmatrikulationssatzung), your enrollment at the university will be terminated automatically. Only after your semester fees have been paid in full will you be able to print your student documents (enrollment verification and student progress certificate) or register for courses and exams.

Cash Payments at the TUM Bursar’s Office

You may pay your semester fees in cash at the Bursar’s Offices (Zahlstelle) on the Munich City campus and the Garching and Weihenstephan campus.

Please note:

If, at the end of your studies, you take an examination which is allocated to the previous semester within the first week of the lecture period, and do not intend to take any courses, you do not have to re-enroll. This also applies for oral exams which are part of the mandatory examinations stipulated in the academic and examination regulations.

The student status is withdrawn at the end of the last semester you have re-enrolled in, not retroactively. For the submission of your thesis enrollment is, however, mandatory.

Semester fees for the current semester can only be refunded if the condition of the Grundbeitragssatzung of the Munich Student Union is fullfilled.

An exemption from the obligatory solidarity contribution is available only for disabled and chronically-ill students upon submission of a formal request.

To apply for the exemption, you must show proof of your entitlement to travel free of charge in public transportation (together with addendum and token from the Ministry of Family and Social Affairs).

Applications must be submitted directly to the university in which you are enrolled. For continuing TUM students, the deadlines for submission are as follows: 15 February for summer semester; 15 August for winter semester. For first-semester students the deadlines are 15 March for summer semester and 15 September for winter semester.

Students enrolled simultaneously at both the TUM and another university (e.g. those in teacher training programs or sport and health sciences programs) should submit their application to the university in charge of their degree program.
