Tata Consultancy Services becomes a partner of TUM

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has become a new member of the Technical University of Munich’s (TUM) Industry Engagement Program (IEP). The partnership aims to promote innovation and next-generation talent. IEP is a platform to identify common interests between researchers and companies and tap into promising fields of innovation, while offering companies direct access to the TUM ecosystem, which is unique in Europe.

Liaison office opened in innovation hub Shenzhen

TUM strengthens strategic activities in China

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is expanding its activities in China. It has opened the TUM Shenzhen Liaison Office, addressing the highly innovative region of Shenzhen. This marks another milestone in the long-standing flagship partnership with Tsinghua University and its campuses in Beijing and Shenzhen. TUM already operate an official Office in Beijing. The new office is managed by TUM Asia, TUM’s subsidiary in Singapore.

TUM student Nadine Abdelmalek receives DAAD Prize 2025

“Our internationality is both an asset and a responsibility”

For more than 25 years, the DAAD Prize has honored international students who excel academically and demonstrate exceptional commitment to volunteer work. This year’s recipient at TUM: Nadine Abdelmalek. The Egyptian student not only helps organize around 40 annual events for TUM’s Student Representation, but has also been active in the mentoring program for German schools abroad and participates in the German Model United Nations.

Most important German research award goes to TUM professor

Physicist Frank Pollmann receives Leibniz Prize

Prof. Frank Pollmann has been awarded the 2026 Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize. He conducts research at the Chair of Theoretical Solid State Physics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and is receiving the prize for his outstanding scientific work in theoretical quantum physics. The German Research Foundation (DFG) endows the prize with up to 2.5 million euros, which will be used to improve research.

TUM Annual Celebration 2025 – Dies Academicus

Maintaining Excellence and Relevance

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has had an extremely successful year. At the Dies Academicus, attended by hundreds of guests, President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann gave a positive assessment and thanked the dedicated university community and the state government for their contributions: “Together, we were able to secure seven clusters of excellence for TUM in the DFG Excellence Competition. And we are the only university in Germany to make it into the top 30 in the world in two rankings.”
